Bakery & Cafe
As you shop and stroll the Market, especially in the early morning hours, follow your nose—the aroma of freshly baked bread is often enough to lead you to the nearest bakery. Enjoy a variety of pastries, muffins, scones, croissants, bear claws and mini-quiches. Pick up a crusty baguette for dinner or a loaf of bread for hearty sandwiches. Specialty bakeries offer authentic French pastries, bagels, doughnuts large and small, cheesecake truffles, crumpets, pies and gluten-free baked goods.
Seattle’s legendary coffee scene took root early at Pike Place Market, and then blossomed from the original Starbucks, which opened on Pike Place in 1971. Today, the Market remains a prime location to taste the newest blends created by local and international roasters. Visit one of the many independently owned cafés in the Market—many offer extra treats such as an art show or ghost tour.
